Trash, glue

18 July 2017

For five months I have been living with all of the garbage I could not put into my compost and transforming it into art. This was done as a study of consumer culture in america. The room becomes a place to reflect on the multitude of trash each person uses and discards every day. Imagine if everyone was forced to live with all of the garbage they purchase just to discard shortly after.

Note: Even though I never use a plastic bag and I always shop in the bulk section with reusable containers, I could not incorporate all of the trash I collected into this piece. There was far too much of it. I probably wound up throwing away about half of all I saved. It is clear to me I need to make a change in my lifestyle and I hope this will inspire others to do so too.
